This brief introduction to blogging at Evergreen will get you started using your new blog.
What is a Blog?
A blog is an online public journal or web-log. Each of you will have your own place to blog that you can access from any internet connected computer. You have the ability to post both text and pictures and anyone with access to the Internet can read and comment on your posts.
How do I login?
- From any web browser go to http://www2.evergreen.edu/blogs and click the Login link.
- Login using your blog login and password
- Your username is your evergreen login. Not sure what that is? Determine your Evergreen login
- What's my password? Check with the blog administrator for your default password.
Change your Password and Profile Preferences
Once you have successfully logged in for the first time it’s a good idea to change your password. You can also change your e-mail address.- Select your login name from the upper right part of the page (directly to the right of Welcome)
- Modify your email address if neccessary
- Change your password
- The Password Hint should stay the same. If you forget your password but can remember the hint a new password will be sent to the email address you specified
- Click Save Changes when you’re done
Change your Blog's name
- From the lefthand menu select Settings
- From the General tab change your Weblog's name
- Hit save at the bottom of the page
- You will need to rebuild your site after changing the name so click the Rebuild Site button at the top of the window or from the left hand navigation
Create New Blog Entry
- Select Create Entry from the Main page
- Title your post
Alert: You must title your post and it should be under 32 characters. - Type your entry in the Entry Body area
- Keep the Post Status at Unpublished if you’re not ready to publish. When you are ready to post change the Post Status to Publish
- Hit Save (or preview if you’d like to see how it will look before you publish)
View your Blog
After you post your entry you can View your site.- Click on the View Site button at the top of the page
- If you don’t see your latest entries you may need to refresh your browser window or Rebuild the Site from the left-hand menu.

Post an image
- From the left hand menu select Upload File
- Select the Browse button to browse your hard dive for an image to upload. Make sure it’s web-ready
- JPEG, GIF or PNG
- no bigger than 100Kb
- no spaces in the file name
- Select Upload
- Choose:
- create a new entry OR just show me the HTML (useful if you just need the link location to use a new image in an existing post)
- Embedded image OR Popup image (image opens a new window)
- Complete the new entry by Titling it and adding text before or after the html linking to your image that was added in your Entry Body.
- Click Save and then View Site to see the new entry
Editing Entries – Edit/Delete posts
- From the Main Menu select Entries
- From here you can click on the link to an entry to edit it
- or click the delete check box and click the Delete button to remove the entry all together
