The DIS has about a dozen specialized work stations for still imaging. Nice flatbed and film media scanners, fast pcs, and really nice printers. You pay for paper but not for ink - a huge subsidy of student art brought to you by the DIS management.
The DIS is a small lab run by two professional photographers, Steve Davis and Hugh Lentz. Photography student interns run the lab for public service, keeping open hours and providing one-on-one digital imaging support and assistance. Click-by-click help and instruction is available as workloads permit.
The DIS embraces the old Evergreen ideal of student community through peer teaching and learning in small, intimate environments. Its decor is by far the coolest at Evergreen. It's adjacent to the Photo Center, which supports b&w and color film photography.
Use of the DIS and its printers is limited to academic arts projects.
