Dan
Dan is the young man that we met while making "Ready to Listen" a Bread and Roses Documentary. Dan had been homeless because of his battles with his Epilepsy and had seizers often enough were he could no longer have a job. As dan became homeless he learned a lot about human life. He has a very interesting way of explaining things that make us think about the earth. he is constantly looking to inprove the quality of the plants that he grows and he one day wants to have some land where he can grow his own food and medicains naturally from the earth. He is constantly reading about alternative medician and has such a vast knowledge of plant life it is amazing. After meeting some poeple at bread and roses I have found that many of the people that our homeless could and will make such a difference in the world if we can only just yeild a little space for the people that dont have any space. Its just kind of funny because he has so much knowledge of the problems in the envirment and the local problems that we are experencing in the comunity so much more than anyone I would run into. Is this ironic or is it systematic?
It is just so interesting to me that those of us that have the privledge of living in a home and travaling to work each day have so little that we actually know about our suroundings and the world around us. Kind of odd.
He talks about that consept in his interview as he talks about 2 different kinds of people. those living on the streets or close to the ground and those in a hurry to get to work each day. He talks about how the people always in a hurry never really stop to look around and see what is going on around them. He also says that he finds that the help he gives others always comes back to him. He is into butism and talks as if he has experanced the help he has given to others and it was so nice to hear his story.
