Non linear extrapolations on mental interferences
Its time to be done. I was. Now, I'm not. When I said earlier that my movie had become physical, yet was lacking some element crucial to its overall success, I was right. I tried to fix it, but have only gotten so far. Now though, I know what it lacks. Rhythm. The element most dominant in my previous experiments, not to mention my daily life, has somehow been lost in this production. It is frustrating and halting. If I had time, I would reshoot one scene, and cut the rest of it up and put it back together again. How does this make me feel? Honestly..fine. I am not going to reshoot or recut. I will tweak and adjust, hoping to establish a beat to its flow, and thats as good as it will be. This project is just one. There will be many more very soon.
So concrete....I put together a crescendo. It took almost four hours to capture all the footage, then about 45 minutes to structure the segment. It might be lacking, but my sense of detachment from this piece is becoming an obstacle too burly to tackle. I would like some new music for it, but I really just want to spend my time banging on a piano without any goal or song in mind. Free form piano may be just what the piece lacks. The question is..."what am I lacking?"
I know that many of my peers have been of similar states of mind, knowing that they were just missing, but had no idea how to get it where they wanted. So to them I say, I am sympathetic to your concerns, but do not let them consume you. Like all things, you make it as good as you can then move on. I have learned a great deal from this project's conception, and its birth will be just as beneficial. In truth, I feel more good than bad, and that is just fine. You will, too. Good luck...
