Sketches - Part 2
Here is the last of my sketches from my many visits to SFMOMA.
The two sketches below represent my least favorite painting and my favorite painting in the Matisse and Beyond exhibition. The first sketch is William de Kooning's Woman (1950) and I find it absolutely revolting. The second sketch is Krees Van Dongen's La chemise noire (The Black Chemise, 1905-06). It was the only painting that employed pastel colors in the front room of this exhibition.

I was so excited to finally see Andy Warhol's Red Liz (1962) in person that I had to sketch it.

This sketch is of Ricci Albenda's Universe (Benny)/Positive; Universe (Benny)/Negative (2002):

I absolutely loved Nan Goldin's photograph, Matt and Lewis in the Tub; Heart-Shaped Ass, Cambridge (1988). It was such a haunting photograph. The lower image is of Toba Khedoori's Rooms (2001).

I was really impressed by Anselm Kiefer's lead sculpture, Book with Wings.

I added watercolors to this sketch of Joan Brown's Noel in Kitchen to try an capture some of the images brillant presence.

I did these two sketches on my last day at the museum. The first is of Marilyn Minter's Strut (2004-05) painting and the second one is of Robert Arneson's large stoneware sculpture, California Artist (1982).
