Notes on Picasso Museum

Having spent several days at my museum, I have found myself let down in many ways. The first and most basic thing that I noticed was that there was, in fact, no temporary exhibition at the time of my visit. This is most likely due to the fact that it is no longer peak tourist season and so business is not as steady as usual. The museum is probably taking this as an opportunity to change sone things around because there were also several rooms that were not opened. This made the entire museum seem rather small and the collection rather limited. It is stated in the museum´s mission that they intend to focus mainly on Picasso´s formative years in Barcelona, but this statement now seems almost like a cop-out. While they do have many works from his teenage years (including some very important paintings), they also have works from his later years. Its as if they wanted to illustrate his whole career, but their collection fell short on his later years.
That is all I have time to write for now. Expect an unbridled outpouring of blogs after Sunday, when I go home and have unlimited access to beautiful internet.

I suspect you're right, Martin, that you're at a lull in the exhibit season. I noticed that lots here ended mid Nov (just before or after we made it to the museum!), and are putting something up for the Dec. holidays. So you can think about the museum in a new way. take care, Jin

Sorry for the huge let down. So how big is the museum exactly? Is there only the Picasso's you mentioned out for viewing? Good luck.
