Picasso Museum, First Entry
After a few days, I have finally been able to locate access to the internet near where I am staying. I am paying by the minute, so please excuse any typographical errors, they will be corrected later.
The first thing i noticed about the Picasso Museum was its out-of-the-way location. It took me about a half hour to actually locate the museum, which is on a narrow street amidst several other narrow streets. The entire area is something of a maze to someone like me who is unfamiliar with the city (and in fact, I would spend my free time wandering these small streets). Upon finding the museum (which I located with the help of a small white sign), i was struck by its lack of flashy signage. It is located in a large, quite old building that at one time was a residence. There is a small square stone sign which says Museu Picasso on the wall of the building and you enter in through an arch in the wall. The first thing that alerted me to the fact that it even was a museum were the security cameras on the building which seem out of place with the rest of the neighborhood. Once you are through the arch, however, you see a larger purple sign on the wall with the same logo on it as the stone sign outside. You are in an outdoor area with a large palm tree, a stone staircase and several security guards milling about (conversing with each other and generally paying very little attention to the visitors). The first thing you are faced with after you pass through this, however, is the gift shop, which is quite large and bright compared with everything surrounding it. Walking past the shop, i found myself confised as to where to go. There was no ticket counter in sight, but to my right was the coat/bag check. The whole thing seemed kind of out of order. Walking further, i finally saw a place to buy a ticket. I was happy to find that there was a student discount and the whole thing came to 4 Euros, not as much as for some reason i as expecting it to cost. After purchasing my ticket, i checked my bag and went up the stairs to where the museum proper is located.
I took several pictures of this inital entry, however since i am not at my own computer i will not be able to post them until after i get home.
