week NINE

I started working with my footage in Final Cut last weekend, trying to get my still photos to move and behave how I'd imagined. It's very time-consuming, and so far the results are unsatisfactory. It needs to work or else there will be no point to not shooting it on video. Eventually I know I'll get it right, but I want to have an example to show next week that doesn't look bad.

Also I shot more video footage for rotoscoping later. I much prefer directing live action to pixelation. It's better to be able to watch it unfolding and immediately know if the performance comes across. It's also easier for the actor to perform in real time than to break down a performance into steps. I enjoy trying to get a performance out of an actor and I'm improving how I communicate and critique during that process.

Though I've been continually snatching pieces here and there of the footage I need, I still have much more to film. I've focused on the relatively easy to shoot, "boring" sequences, and even those have posed difficulties. Some of the pixelated footage will need to be redone. I feel confident about the ultimate deadline for the final film even though much more filming is required...

anyway Bryce is here to work on finishing the Death of Cinema audio mix so I have to go.

I am eager to see your progress playa! I know that you have gifts, and to see how you translate how you think to your work will be awesome. I wanted to just let you know you have my support, and although we have not had a lot of time to connect, when we have it has always been encouraging and helpful to see you, hear what you have to say...thanks,

Jeffery
