Is it true?!

My second year at The Evergreen State College if officially over. Since when have i been here for two years???? It seems like i just moved into the dorms, wide-eyed and naive.

The show was great, tons of people came, everyone had their work up and people seemed to enjoy themselves. The only downside is that the giant bag i keep mentioning broke, but its alright, its huge and a beast and the broken handles even added to the piece. Im looking at it as a good thing because now i can do some photo shoots and video projects with it without worry about ruining it.

I am in the midst of packing for my three week trip to Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Portland and ISRAEL!!!! Most of the time will be spent in Israel, Las Vegas and Los Angeles will only be for a few days in between and Portland for the last bit of the trip. I am in shock that I will be traveling to the "motherland" as my friend and fellow travel buddy Sarelle calls it. Its pretty insane and the only reality check ill have is when im actually standing somewhere in Israel, hot as hell, with a giant smile on my face.

I am officially moved out of my art studio in the arts annex, i have resigned my key and im really sad about it. Thankfully, i have amazing roommates who are willing to let me turn the garage into a studio but its still not the same. I wont be surrounded by all of the amazing fova beans, working my fingers to the bone. It was an experience i will never forget and will always hold very dear to my heart. It honestly was THE best academic decision i have made thus far in my career. Next....SACI !!!

Day 2 & 3

Yesterday (Thursday) was day 2 of our instillation process for our class's downtown art show. We got everything up on the walls and read by 3pm. I think we made pretty good time. Not to mention we beat the program that has the first floor of the building. They planned to have their opening reception last night so i thought it was pretty awesome that we were done before them, considering our opening reception is tonight. Speaking of, if any of you readers are interested:

Foundations of Visual Arts and the Fova beans presents:
Fluid Exchanges: Fresh From The Studio
Opening reception: Friday, June 6th, 6-9pm (as late as we want)

The show will be up all weekend and the open house hours are
Friday 3-midnight or so
Saturday 11am-9pm
Sunday 10am-12pm

You should come down and see some amazing artwork. It will be a great time! And if you cant make it down, i promise i will post pictures next week of the event.

In semi-related news: (i think i mentioned this in the last entry) my best friend from home (las vegas) is coming to visit me today! I pick her up at the train station at 4 40 and i cant wait! Its going to be so nice to have her around for all of the festivities.

Erykah Badu and The Roots both put on amazing shows. It was at Marymoor Park in Redmond, WA last night and it was great. Although, the weather could have been better, it was very very cold and windy. But a great time nonetheless.

Hopefully ill see some of you readers downtown this weekend!

Day 1

We had our final critique of the year today!

Part of me is so relieved, but its hard to feel complete relief since there is still so much to do. Plus, due to events coming in the next week, it hasnt hit me that this is the end. I know for a fact that when Im not able to roll into the studio for class, or any other part of the day, to work on stuff, its going to hit me. When im not able to ask my studio mate, Erica, what she thinks about what im working on, it will hit me. And the laundry list of things I am going to miss will kick me in the but in a few weeks.

Critique went prett well. I completed everything i wanted to, except for my painting which Im okay with. Everything else: the two ceramic bags, the duck sculpture, the plaster bags, the unresolved reciepts, the huge photo series. ITS ALL DONE! And can i just say: photo finishing SUCKS SO BAD! Its such a meticulous process, one that needs absolute precision and i am not one to care much about being that on point with any of my work. I think there is so much beauty in imperfections. So it was one of the most difficult processes ive had to go through all year.

The fova beans loaded up and hauled 70% of the stuff downtown to the space today. We made pretty good progress: organized all the work available to its rightful places and even started hanging. Putting my giant bag up will definitely be a fun task tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow: we will be hanging the show all morning and afternoon, hopefully finishing around 3, and then a few friends (Ariel & Luke) and I are heading up to Redmond to see Erykah Badu and The Roots at Marymoor Park. Im so excited! And then my best friend from Las Vegas (now living and attending PNCA in Portland) will be coming up for the show on friday. Followed by saturday which is my friend Brendan's graduation part in Seattle. Followed by taking the show down on sunday and a final hoorah with the class at our faculty's house.

wow. im just getting started. I cant forget about being interviewed for YouUniversity, free time during eval week, going to Las Vegas for a few days before i depart for ISRAEL! and then to LA to get my student visa for FLORENCE, ITALY! (september is when SACI, art school, begins).

thats enough, im all over the place. goodnight!
