Day 1
We had our final critique of the year today!
Part of me is so relieved, but its hard to feel complete relief since there is still so much to do. Plus, due to events coming in the next week, it hasnt hit me that this is the end. I know for a fact that when Im not able to roll into the studio for class, or any other part of the day, to work on stuff, its going to hit me. When im not able to ask my studio mate, Erica, what she thinks about what im working on, it will hit me. And the laundry list of things I am going to miss will kick me in the but in a few weeks.
Critique went prett well. I completed everything i wanted to, except for my painting which Im okay with. Everything else: the two ceramic bags, the duck sculpture, the plaster bags, the unresolved reciepts, the huge photo series. ITS ALL DONE! And can i just say: photo finishing SUCKS SO BAD! Its such a meticulous process, one that needs absolute precision and i am not one to care much about being that on point with any of my work. I think there is so much beauty in imperfections. So it was one of the most difficult processes ive had to go through all year.
The fova beans loaded up and hauled 70% of the stuff downtown to the space today. We made pretty good progress: organized all the work available to its rightful places and even started hanging. Putting my giant bag up will definitely be a fun task tomorrow.
Speaking of tomorrow: we will be hanging the show all morning and afternoon, hopefully finishing around 3, and then a few friends (Ariel & Luke) and I are heading up to Redmond to see Erykah Badu and The Roots at Marymoor Park. Im so excited! And then my best friend from Las Vegas (now living and attending PNCA in Portland) will be coming up for the show on friday. Followed by saturday which is my friend Brendan's graduation part in Seattle. Followed by taking the show down on sunday and a final hoorah with the class at our faculty's house.
wow. im just getting started. I cant forget about being interviewed for YouUniversity, free time during eval week, going to Las Vegas for a few days before i depart for ISRAEL! and then to LA to get my student visa for FLORENCE, ITALY! (september is when SACI, art school, begins).
thats enough, im all over the place. goodnight!
