About the Academic Priorities Group

The following description, group charge, and objectives reflect updates discussed at the Spring 2005 retreat.

Description:

This group serves as a locus for planning technology initiatives critical to delivering/supporting the academic mission of the college. The primary role is to act as a filter for, and facilitator of, academic IT initiatives that have broad, cross-organizational impact. For any one issue or project, a working group may be formed in order to include additional key stakeholders in researching, resolving and planning for IT related issues affecting the academic mission of the college. In addition, should any policies become necessary to effectively resolve such issues, this group will be charged with facilitating structures and strategies for implementing the policies.

Group Charge:

  • Ensure effective management and operations of hands-on resources
  • Receive and air requests/proposals/questions from users that have a broad, cross-organizational impact.
  • Create and maintain a repository for academic IT initiatives.
  • Prioritize IT related initiatives in coordination with the IT Strategic Plan.
  • Assemble working groups when necessary.
  • Present findings to the Core.
  • Communicate with campus about our work.
  • Annually review and provide recommendations to update the IT Strategic Plan.

Objectives for the third year (2005-06):

    • Implement a web-based tool to expand participation in the ITCH process outside of meeting times.
    • Increase faculty participation and communication.
    • Have the Academic ITCH designated as a faculty governance assignment (possibly a component of the PLATO assignment).
    • Assign ITCH members as Planning Unit Liaisons.
    • Continue to participate in refinement of recommended hardware standards and lab upgrades.
    • Refine specific group charge, both short and long-term. Include goals and products.

I think we should update this list to reflect current employees and current faculty representation, which at this point I believe is Judy Cushing plus another?

I made some revisions to the list of working collaborators. If you have been left off this list or if you would like to be removed from the list, please let me know. For some unknown reason links were added to Noel's and Paul's last names. I'm not sure how to delete those links. If you have any suggestions on removing these links, let me know as well. I'm still new to drupal.
