Other Specific Concerns:

  • Students can lose an entire weekend having to wait for services like Blackboard to be restored
  • Blocked print queues
  • Have to flex personal schedules to meet with staff during regular business hours
  • Problems with AV classrooms - sometime can switch rooms but staff help would be great.
  • Problems with applications in AV classrooms - after hours assistance would be great.
  • Need for help setting up portable AV equipment for an evening
  • Unresolved AV problems result in canalled workshops
  • Sem II and Library computer lab tech support after hours.
  • Problem checking out equipment, setting it up in a room across campus and then having problem during a presentation
  • Maintenance work on network and servers during extended hours causes big problems

Other Comments?

  • Problems don't happen often but when they do, it’s a big deal
  • With so many campus resource unavailable after hours, it's hard to know what to even ask for.
  • Computer and AV services should be available as long as classes are being held on campus.
  • Seems like people forget about the needs of evening and weekend faculty and students (about 17% of the total student FTE)
  • Network and server maintenance should be limited to Weekday evenings after 11PM or early Sunday mornings.
