Logon Security Requirements Workgroup
The Logon Security Requirements Workgroup has been tasked with addressing the DIS security audit exceptions we incurred in 1993 related to our password security policy. We hope to provide a recommendation by June, 2006. Our current policy does not meet serveral DIS standards including most notably hardened passwords, password changes every 120 days, or a minimum password legnth of 8 characters. Implementing some or all of these DIS standards in our environment can have far reaching impacts. We are seeking a solution that will bring both security and ease of implementation and on-going support.
