The Academic ITCH meets tomorrow (Wednesday, May 21) and the tentative agenda will be as follows;
Lab software
- Lab software licensing for fall
- Most areas moving to Leopard for Fall 2008. iLife 08 ordered. Not moving to new office suite in either Windows/Mac
- Open office 3 out in Beta, will be installing sometime next year.
- Quicktime in the computer center?
- TSS will be purchasing machines with Vista but loading XP until the last moment, although they're starting to send out machines with Vista anyways.
- TSS testing office 2007 this summer
Lab upgrades
- Upgrades are approved and underway
Summer Institutes
- Very popular - lots signed up. We will be looking at changing the IT literacy summit as a result of not enough interest - information pending when institutes are finalized.
Joe network update
- Status - currently at 45Mb/s (max of our equipment)
- most survey information based on old speeds, not current speeds
- 400k per user dynamic allocation (per computer) on all vlans outbound, mostly dorms and wifi at this point but will be moved to public vlan
- wifi will have more limited partitioning because it's un-authenticated network.
- Question of what the line charges will be when test is over.
Metasearch update from the library
- Cost for the service has gone up significantly
- Implemeting current software catalog version instead, might be adequate
Demo resolution test (Peter)
- Peter not present, this deferred to next time.
