Tutoring
Language Lab Aides offer their services as tutors and conversation partners for anyone interested in stopping by. Languages and times are as follows:
Arabic: Aisheh is available to tutor in basic and advanced levels for Arabic on Thursday 12-4. Her first language is Arabic. She can teach the Arabic language and offer understanding of Middle East culture. She is experienced as a language assistant and has a passion for languages. She is willing to tutor in vocabulary, translation, general conversation, and grammar. She's excellent with reading, writing, and grammar, so if you have a desire to learn Arabic please contact Aisheh she will be pleased to offer her services to you.
Dutch: Just in case there's someone out there wanting to work on Dutch, Alley's Dutch skills are strong Intermediate to Advanced. With some formal studies, most of her language was acquired using self-study while living for more than four years in Amsterdam. Grammar, conversation, and reading are strong, although writing is still something of a challenge. She has lots of materials: study books, novels, dictionaries, music, and DVD's. Check the French section (below) for her availability.
French: Alley can help with French (or Dutch) on Wednesdays from 5 to 6, and at other times (lunches, some evenings) by appointment. She studied French through high school, and has worked in the Intermediate courses with Judie Gabriele at Evergreen for a few years. She's happy to help with grammar, conversation, vocabulary building, etc. She also collects French music, from classics to more modern artists.
German: Brenden is available for German tutoring (up to fairly high / intermediate level) on Wednesdays from 12 - 4:30 and Fridays from 12 - 5. He can help with reading, writing, pronunciation, and conversational skills for all levels offered at TESC. He took German 1 - 3 in high school before taking a year at South Puget Sound and has kept it up in Evergreen Extended Education classes with Marianne Hoepli. A fair warning - if you are extremely high level, he might be learning more from you than you are from him.
Japanese: Amy can help with Japanese Tuesdays and Thursdays 6 - 8. She has completed two years of Japanese with Tomoko Ulmer at Evergreen, and participated in the full-time program Japan Today which included a two-month study abroad in Tokyo. She is happy to help you with conversation, grammar, and vocabulary, especially the forms and dialogues in the Genki textbook series used by Japanese classes at Evergreen. She's really good with reading, writing, and grammar, maybe not so good with on-the-spot language production, so if you want to practice conversation, she'd be grateful to you.
Spanish: Nancy can help with both beginning Spanish and all levels of French on Wednesdays, from 5-6. She has many years of experience as a language teacher, studying French at the University of Brussels!
Shelby is available for beginning Spanish, conversation, homework help, etc. She studied Spanish for one year at TESC, and 3 months in Guatemala. She's a big fan of learning through kinesthetic games, reading aloud, conversation, and sentence writing. She loves studying language and has studied French, ASL, Spanish and is trying to learn Vietnamese, if there are any tutors out there. She's in the language lab Mondays 4-7, Tuesdays 12-6, and Saturdays 12-5.
Christie is available to tutor Spanish conversation, grammar, reading, and essay writing. She has taken all levels of Spanish language classes offered at Evergreen, and studied for 3 months in Nicaragua as part of the full-time program Memory of Fire. She also works at Mason County Literacy as an ESL tutor. She's available Mondays 12 - 5 and Thursdays 4 - 6.
There is a conversational Spanish group every Monday from 4-5! Tell your friends!

Don't see your language? If you don't see the language you want to work on listed here, remember that you can set up your own tutoring times and conversation groups--either as the tutor or the tutoree (tutee? tutored?)--by posting your info in the forum.
